Ingredients
·
½ cup unsalted butter (browned and cooled)
·
½ cup brown sugar
·
¼ cup white sugar
·
1 large egg
·
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
·
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
·
½ teaspoon baking soda
·
¼ teaspoon salt
·
½ cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Method
Step 1: Brown the butter
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring
often, until it turns golden brown and gives a nutty aroma. Remove from heat
and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Mix wet ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter, brown sugar, and white
sugar. Beat until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until well
combined.
Step 3: Add dry ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add
the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until a dough forms. Fold
in chocolate chips if using.
Step 4: Chill the dough
Cover the dough and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes. This helps the
cookies hold their shape and enhances flavor.
Step 5: Bake the cookies
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the sheet, leaving
space between each. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden but the
centers are still soft.
Step 6: Cool and serve
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before
transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.
Manish Tip
For an extra depth of flavor, add a pinch of sea salt on top of the cookies
just after baking. This enhances the nuttiness of the brown butter and balances
the sweetness perfectly.
